Yamaha YZF R3

Complete details of YZF R3 Motorcycle

Launched in India in August 2014.

Injected with the 'R' racing DNA from its older siblings, the Yamaha R3 is Yamaha's gift to India for 2015. After a long wait of excruciating anxiousness, Yamaha has finally launched the much awaited R3 in India. The R3 is a motorcycle that was newly developed by the Japanese manufacturer, along-with the R6, R1 and the R1M. Yamaha's R15 that ruled Indian roads still turns heads wherever it goes. But with the arrival of the R3, Yamaha might as well be looking down at its competitors. With a twin-cylinder 321cc engine, coupled to a 6-speed transmission, Yamaha has specifically developed this bike to be an everyday superbike. The aggressive front styling and dual-headlamp cluster looks distinct and is sure to attract a lot of on-lookers. Yamaha also offers ABS as an option.

First Impression Review

The Yamaha R3 - much more refined, upgraded and ready to take the entry-level sportbike completion to another level of aggression and firepower. What we can see in the new Yamaha R3 is the upgraded Metzeler tyres, a long swingarm, a very comfortable mono cross suspension and on top of all that - a very powerful 321cc Liquid cooled engine.

Yamaha R3

When compared with the rivals like the Ninja 300 or the Benelli Tornado 302 R, the R3 has an upper hand when considering the value for money propositions. The new R3 comes with dual channel ABS, which is a very required addition that's been lacked by the other competitors.

Yamaha R3

Yamaha has done a serious job of making the engine very reliable and powerful as possible. The riding position of the R3 is more towards the touring capabilities in mind and is more practical for day to day use. The newly developed engine produces a maximum power of 42.0 PS @10,750 rpm and a maximum torque of 29.6 Nm @ 9,000 rpm. The engine is designed to generate its maximum power output at 10,750 rpm and maximum torque at 9,000 rpm. The torque and bhp of this bike are spread across the rev range that riders can easily take the aggression of the R3 to the maximum limit with utmost control and stability.

Yamaha R3

A Diamond chassis structure is used in the R3 and the chassis structure makes sure that the R3 take corners and highway rides at higher speeds with stability and ensures buzz freeriding at all levels of rpm. The suspension duties of the R3 is performed with a telescopic fork at the front while the rear suspension comes with a Swingarm and a superior mono shock suspension. The braking of the R3 is done with a hydraulic single disc (298 mm) and a rear hydraulic single disc (298 mm). The braking is equipped with dual channel ABS. The overall wet weight of the R3 is just 173 kg.
