Launched in India in 2011. YZF R15 V2 is not in production now. Discontinued in 2018.
The most aggressive, sporty, and mind blowing motorcycle in this class. The dual headlamp, split seat, 5-spoke wheels, LED tail lamp, and wider radial rear tyre input a stunning sum up to the bike. The YZF-R15 has won many national and international awards including the design award. The bike is wedded with a 149.8cc, Liquid cooled, 4 stroke, SOHC, 4-valve engine. It delivers a max power of 17 PS at 8500 rpm and a max torque of 15 Nm at 7500 rpm. It is mated with a 6 speed transmission.
The R15 version 2.0 was made out an update to the already proven version. When compared, the new R15 version 2.0 has sharp looks and style that looks and feel much better in performance at circuits. Yamaha has drawn inspiration from the design styles of supersport model YZF-R1 that is adapted from YZR-M1 MotoGP race machine. Yamaha seems to retain the iconic dual headlamp, 5-spoke wheels, LED tail lamp, and wider radial rear tyre, while the new additions come from the split seat.
The new R15 V 2.0 has the same engine borrowed from the predecessor. Yamaha has tweaked the engine to be more precise in driving out more torque and power at all rev ranges. The major advantages of the R15 is the rigid and powerful Deltabox frame, which delivers superior rigidity balance. Yamaha has designed this frame to provide the best balance in longitudinal, lateral, and torsional rigidity. The deltabox frame ensures a very comfortable and agile riding performance on both city roads as well as the circuit. The 149cc Liquid-cooled produces a maximum power of 17PS @ 8,500rpm and a maximum torque of 15N.m @ 7,500rpm. The new version comes with an aluminium swingarm and is the first Indian bike model with aluminium long rear arm which improves handling in the turns and cornering.
Yamaha has made the chain adjustment assembly to be at the end of the rear arm which can be seen in Super sports models and this improves adjustment capability of the bike. The suspension duties of the bike are done with telescopic at the front while the rear suspension is a Linked type Monocross setup. The brakes of the R15 Version 20. is done with Hydraulic, single disc at the front and rear. The overall weight of the bike is 136 kg.
