For a developing country like India, it is the most affordable and preferable mode of transportation. The road and climatic condition of the country also favors commuter segment. Unlike other bikes, they are reliable, comfortable and feasible. Honda Livo is one such good looking commuter, which is claimed to be the most premium 110cc motorcycle in the country.
The Design and Features
After all Livo 110 is just a commuter motorcycle, but unlike other alternatives available in the market it is well a structured motorcycle with all the fairings of a 125-150cc bike. It offers a good road presence from the front face due to its trapezoidal headlamp. This well designed headlamp is inspired from CB Unicorn 160 and the muscular CB Trigger. Moreover, this headlight casing is accompanied by a detailed air duct design which is unique to the Livo 110. On the top, a black windscreen is also positioned which goes well with the bikini fairing. Honda uses a sculpted fuel tank for the Livo, with an aggressive shroud bearing 3D Honda Emblem. On moving to the sides, the panels and fenders goes well with the overall design structure without any unwanted graphics or projections.
Livo gets two-pod innovative instrument console which displays all relevant information. Other attractive features include freshly designed grab rails and tail lamp, two-piece enticing muffler with heat shield cover and flared front mud guard. Moreover, it also features AHO as apart of BS-IV emission norm. Honda uses more basic switchgear with minimum quality. Like all the Honda motorcycles, the fit and finish of the bike is outstanding.
The Engine and Performance
Honda Livo features 109.19cc, air-cooled, 4-stroke engine with BS-IV emission standards. The mill delivers a maximum power of 8.31 bhp @ 7500 rpm and a peak torque of 9.09 Nm @ 5000 rpm. This engine is mated with a 4-speed constant mesh gearbox for optimum power transfer. The speed range from 45kmph to 65kmph is considered to be best suited for this commuter. Once we par the 70kmph mark, the bike starts to vibrates and feels bit nasty to drive. This engine is powered by the Honda Eco Technology, which enhances the fuel economy and performance figures of the bike. It offers a solid 65 to 75 kmpl mileage.
It is just a commuter designed and built for day-to-day use. Therefore, the performance figures and dynamics of the bike are optimum and well suited for a city drive.
Chassis, Suspension and Braking
Like all other commuters of Honda, this one too gets diamond type frame work. It is considered to be one of the reliable chassis of all time. The well placed footpegs and flat saddle provides a relaxed riding position to the ride. Honda uses telescopic forks at the front and spring loaded hydraulic unit at the rear. Both the suspension system provides an impressive feedback by providing hustle free and comfort rides on the Indian road conditions. Braking duties are lies with drum brakes at both the ends. Honda offers an optional front disc brake for the Livo as well. It could have been better if Honda employs their impressive CBS braking system in this model.
With the launch of Honda Livo in 2015, the brand make a mark in the introduction of premium commuter range in the market. With the popularity and desirability this is one good addition for the entire commuter range. Livo did a full stop for stereotyping the commuter bikes with old-dull looking design format. It managed to gain new lands, which the Honda CB Twister failed to do so for Honda. The Livo 110 competes with the TVS Star City Plus, which is much cheaper in pricing but goes head-to-head with specification and performance figures.
