Yamaha M-Slaz Launched

Yamaha Motor launched its new 150cc naked street motorcycle the M-Slaz, which was previously rumoured to be MT-15 in the Thailand market.

After many speculations and spy images later, the Yamaha M-Slaz 150, or the MT-15, finally made its debut at the ongoing Thailand Auto Expo. The MT-15, tagged as the M-Slaz 150 for certain markets, is a street fighter based on the YZF-R15 Version 2.0 and borrows certain elements from its faired sibling such as the famed deltabox frame and the 149cc single cylinder engine. The motorcycle is priced at 89,500 Thai Baht which is approximately ₹1.66 Lakhs.

The naked version of the YZF-R15, the M-Slaz features Kawasaki Z series inspired headlamp unit which is more angular and razor-sharp. The headlamps features LED lights, the same goes for the tail lamp. The digital instrument cluster comes with blue background lights. It shows a host of information and is positioned without clutter. The motorcycle also comes with a push start button similar to the other naked model of Yamaha such as MT09 and MT07.

The M-Slaz measures 1,955mm in length, 795mm in width, 1,065mm in height, 1,350mm in wheelbase, 805mm in saddle height and 164mm in ground clearance. Based on the Deltabox frame already seen on the Yamaha R15, the M-Slaz street fighter has a fork rake angle of 26 degrees and a caster trail of 88 mm. The bike has a fuel tank capacity of 10.2 litres, engine oil tank capacity of 1 litre and a coolant tank capacity of 0.52 litres.

The M-Slaz features upside down 37mm suspension in front and mono suspension at the rear. The naked motorcycle in the absence of fairing will add fenders on both sides of the fuel tank. Spilt seat, wide handle bar and body graphics are also part of the M-Slaz. The M-Slaz is powered by the same 149cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine in the fully fared R15 which is currently sold in India. The engine is mated to six speed sport transmission. The specification is not released yet while reports suggest around 17hp and 15Nm of torque.
