Finally the whistle got blown for the much awaited semi-faired version of the S 1000 RR, the S 1000 R. The S1000R was officially unveiled at the EICMA event in Milan.
The S1000R shares a lot with its sibling, the S 1000 RR, both in appearance and in technical specifications. The S1000R is equipped with the same 999cc, Water/oil-cooled 4-cylinder 4-stroke in-line engine, four titanium valves per cylinder engine, that powers the S 1000 RR. However, BMW has slightly tuned down the power and the torque of the bi-wheeler.
The bike now delivers a max power of 160 bhp at 11000 rpm and a peak torque of 11.4 kgm at 9250 rpm. It's heart is coupled with a 6 speed transmission.
This semi-naked supersport machine will deliver a massive low and mid-range power. Moreover, it's coupled with a ride-by-wire throttle, automatic stability control, traction control, damping control and a race anti-lock braking system.
Meanwhile, the suspension system gets inverted telescopic forks upfront and a monoshock at the rear mated on alloy swingarm. The bike weighs only 207 kgs and sets a new benchmark in Dynamic Roadster segment for BMW.
