The introduction of YZF-R15 has changed the fortune for Yamaha in India from 2008. Ever since then, R15 stands as a symbol of modern day entry level sportsbike. The latest format of R15 S is said to be the modified form of R15 Version 2.0 with some minor changes in the design based on customer feedback. This particular model is only for the Indian market, since there were many disappointed customers here with the uncomfortable pillion seats. The split race spec seats of R15 Ver 2.0 has slightly higher rear seats, which was the major reason for discomfort.
The new YZF-R15 S has a unibody seats with more convenient seating position. It uses 150cc, liquid cooled, 4-stroke, SOHC, 4 valve engine capable of delivering 16.36 bhp power and a peak torque of 14.6 Nm @ 7500 rpm. Which is then mated with 6-speed constant mesh gearbox for optimum power transmission.
In order to provide sufficient aerodynamics, the under cowl of this bike is designed as diffuser. Not only that, new improved unibody seat will provide optimum support to the rider and pillion over long distance rides.
This 134kg bike can hit a top speed of 130 kmph and with a fuel tank measuring 12 litres of capacity and fuel efficiency of 42 kmpl, it can easily cover 450+ km in one single stretch. The major alternatives of R15 are Suzuki Gixxer SF and Honda CBR 150R.
The R15 is one of the best motorcycles Yamaha has ever showcased in the Indian market. The R15 S comes with a 149.00 cc liquid-cooled, 4-stroke, SOHC engine that has the capacity to produce a maximum power of 12.2kw @ 8,500 rpm and a maximum torque of 14.6N.m @ 7,500 rpm. The engine uses Constant mesh 6-speed gearbox.
The R15 S has a Delta Box frame and this frame gives it the DNA of a very mean and stylish sportbike that is good ion performance and style. This sports bike make use of a Telescopic fork at the front suspension and a Linked type monocross suspension at the rear. The suspension setup is made to make the motorcycle stable at higher speeds.
The braking system of the bike is done with a Single disc at the front and rear section. Yamaha has done a serious job at making the braking system very efficient for the R15 even at higher speeds with the help of wide tyres.Yamaha has made the bike to be very very efficient and compact at the same time, the bike is very light in weight and is easy to do corners at higher speeds. The R15 S has a very good seat height of 800 mm making it easy for short rides also to enjoy the bike with maximum confidence.The ground clearance of the bike stands at 160 mm and the overall weight of this trendy sports bike is just 134 kg.
