Honda CLIQ

For the past couple of years, the demand for automatic scooter had risen in India. After all, Honda Activa has been leading the two-wheeler pack for more than 2 years to become the best selling and most popular two-wheeler brand in the country. Earlier in 2016, Honda launched a groundbreaking product called Navi, which is a moto-scooter and now they have come up again with a distinctive scooter called 'Cliq'.



The Design and Features
The new Honda Cliq follows some of the design principles of Honda Navi. Its new styling attracts both the female and male riders of the country. Up front, the raked front apron and naked handlebar give a sporty look to the scooter. The headlight is mounted on the midsection of the apron just like Honda Dio, with a different design. The instrument console unit is small and it is surrounded by faux carbon fibre finish plastics to make it attractive.



This scooter sits very low with a wide and long saddle. The side panel of the Cliq has been inspired from the Honda Navi. Moreover, Honda has integrated a large footboard space, which had enhanced the utility character of this scooter. It also offers optional footboard mounted lockable storage space and easy retractable hooks over the floor board. At the tail section, it gets additional storage carrier for carrying extra luggage. This is an add-on accessory. Unlike other scooters in the market, it gets rugged block pattern tubeless tyres that enable the rider to take this vehicle to any terrain. Honda has added this feature after studying the typical Indian village roads. Other features are 14-litre under seat storage space, USB mobile charging socket, AHO feature, maintenance free battery, viscous air filter and combi brake system with an equalizer.



The Engine
Honda Cliq underpins the same 110cc, Honda Eco Technology engine found in the latest Activa 4G and Honda Navi. The engine delivers a maximum power of 8 bhp @ 7000 rpm and a peak torque of 8.94 Nm @ 5500 rpm. It is one of the lightest scooters on the Indian roads with a maximum weight of 102 kg, which is 6 kg lighter than Activa. Therefore, it feels lighter and agile than Activa. Honda Cliq offers smooth and brisk acceleration at times.

Suspension, Braking and Dynamics
It gets the same spring loaded hydraulic suspension at the front and back. The conventional 130 mm drum brakes are also found at the front and back of this utility scooter, which is a cost-effective component. Moreover, with the assistance of Combi-Brake System, the whole scooter can be controlled with the help of a single lever.



The Conclusion
Honda Cliq is said to be the first utility scooter of India. It is also one of the cheapest scooters of the country. An automatic scooter with utility perspective is a brilliant move from the brand for Indian riding conditions. Nowadays, most of the average Indian prefers to own an automatic scooter due to the heavy traffic blocks and the luggage carrying capacity of scooter, when compared to the geared motorcycles. In such a scenario, Honda Cliq is the perfect two-wheeler to own. Interestingly, this model is available only in the state of Rajasthan as Honda will introduce this model to other states in the months to come.
