The Italian bike manufacturer Aprilia is known for their renowned superbikes in all category. They had hit the Indian media in 2016 by showcasing their 150cc scooter SR 150 in the Auto Expo 2016. This particular scooter has now become the cheapest Aprilia one could place their hands on. As this power packed scooter started get going, Aprilia is now ready to unleash the new SR badged scooter from 2017.
The current SR 150 features many of the characters of their superbikes likes the racing graphics, twin LED lamps, dual tone seats, which has attracted Indian youth to a great extend. And now they are going to give more surprises in 2017 by bringing the upgraded SR scooter. The new version will have much improved cosmetic and mechanical features from the current model.
SR 150 uses the Piaggio Vespa 150 engine and sold through Piaggio's own dealership and it has been doing a good business so far. Like the SR 150, the upcoming scooter will also be built on the same engine platform of Vespa. But the Vespa engine in Aprilia is tuned little bit to produce more power. It delivers 11.4 bhp raw power and 11.4 Nm of peak torque. Aprilia has also tuned the exhaust note of this scooter to mark a distinct character for their power scooter.
The SR 150 is priced at Rs. 65,000 (ex-showroom Delhi) and the upgraded version will be priced little higher than this. The company is yet to disclose the specifications and other features of their new scooter, but one thing is sure that it will be much peppeir amd sportier than the previous one.
In 2107, Aprilia is set to introduce a new SR scooter for the Indian market as their first scooter, the SR 150 has been a great success in the market.
