MV Agusta To Set Sail To India

Kinetic Engineering and MV Agusta to join hands

The Italian Motorcycle manufacturer that started off with humble beginnings and gradually worked its way to the top ranks as one of the world's most renowned performance motorcycles, is finally coming to India.

MV Agusta does a fair deal of business across the world and their products are often praised by the motorcycle community for their stunning designs, varied styling and ground-shattering performance. With Ducati and other key players betting high in the Indian market roulette, Kinetic engineering has joined hands with the premium motorcycle manufacturer and will be helping out to bring Agusta's machines to India. Although the venture has not been made official, representatives had said that the official announcement will be made within a week. Kinetic had once enjoyed leadership in India as one of the trusted brands, the Kinetic Honda JV, helping them out. However, as the years rolled and when other players started to fight hard in the competition, Kinetic slowly took the way down and the company was then later given off to Mahindra who owns a large stake in the company. Although Kinetic wasn't really part of the action, it had developed strong relations with manufacturers overseas and this might surely produce positive results for the company.

As for now, no plans have yet been unveiled by either of the two auto makers. However, the ideal way to bring the Agusta brand to India would be through the CBU import route, which is quite obvious. As much of the international motorcycle manufacturers tend to import using the CBU route and later using the CKD method to assemble products, prices can be effectively lowered, however, this takes time. Agusta's entry into India and their acceptance by the Indian audience, along with the sales of their products, will be the chief factor that would influence the future plans of the group.

Since most of the bikes manufactured by MV Agusta and sold in the global market are premium, performance based bikes, price will not be a matter that might need negotiation. Agusta has clearly made its stand among the motorcycle crowd as one of the best in its class and surely, quality will not be taking a backseat, if Agusta decides to bring their motorcycles to Indian roads.

The MV Agusta F4 is one of the motorcycles from its stable that deserves praise, 195bhp and 200PS of torque from a 1000cc in-line four engine. The whole character of the bikes that MV Agusta produces is unlike the ones that other Italian bike manufacturers produce. Expect a price of above Rs 18-20 lacs for the ultra-performance bikes from Agusta. Although they do have bikes featuring lower displacement platforms, the technology and performance that exudes is certainly one to be reckoned with and the price paid will definitely meet its worth.
