Yamaha Motor Company has a tradition of introducing sporty machines and its subsidiary firm India Yamaha Motor Private Limited (IYM) is no different. IYM has unveiled its first scooter, the Ray, in the Indian two-wheeler industry. The scooter paid attention of millions and became a mass hit. Following the huge success, Yamaha is in no mood to spoil the wave that continues with the Ray. But, the company plans to launch a sporty version of the Ray, the Ray Z.
What makes the Ray Z different from the Ray is its new body work. The all new Ray Z looks absolutely tempting to any eyes who wanna ride on scooters. The paint scheme mixed up with multiple shades, and chequered flag labelled on its body tag the machine a very dazing stuff.
The news about the Ray Z was disclosed when some of its pictures were spied. However, this spy work will only bring more anticipation to the entire Industry and thus will lead to boost the fame of the machine. Even though the scooter looks different, there would be no changes regarding its technical specifications. That means, the Ray Z is just like the FZ-S from the FZ.
Unveiled at the 2012 Auto Expo New Delhi, the Yamaha Ray was a great news for scooter enthusiasts. Then getting launched after few months, Yamaha bagged so many awards from several auto blogs, magazines, and television channels in the country. Launching the Ray, the company officials had said that the scooter was being introduced aiming the teenage guys and young women. Nevertheless, the Ray Z looks like to target trendy youth who care to own something is very trendy and all new by appearance. Well, the Ray Z looks so cool and stunning.
The Ray Z will share the same engine of the Ray. Thus, it will be equipped with a 113cc, Air cooled, 4-stroke, SOHC,2-valve, Single cylinder engine. It will generate good power of 7.1 PS @ 7500 rpm and respectable torque of 8.1 Nm @ 5000 rpm. The scooter will be run by V-belt automatic transmission. The Ray Z would be ensuring a great mileage figure of 53 kmpl under standard conditions. It has a top speed of 85 kmph. The Ray Z is likely to be priced around Rs. 3000 more than the current Ray. When the Ray Z launches, it might be hard times for its rivals such as honda Dio, Piaggio Vespa, Hero Pleasure, and Suzuki Access.
