The classification is based on motorcycles sales reports from January to June 2017.

Honda Activa


When the year 2017 started, the motorcycle sale reports for January stands with Hero MotoCorp’s motorcycle brand Splendor topping the sales figure with a sales unit of 208,512 units while the Honda’s top performing scooter, Activa scored only second place with total domestic sales of 196,996 units.

Even though Honda Activa saw a dip in the sales when 2017 started, the trend shifted in February when it recorded a 217,098 sales units as opposed to the 208,571 sales figure collected by the Hero Splendor. A difference of 8,527 units was witnessed by just a month alone compared with the Hero Splendor and an 11,575 unit increase of sale was witnessed first month alone for Activa.

But the sales figure of March and April are stable and Honda Activa continues to dominate the sales charts with a 239,239 in April and 233,935 in May with the Honda Splendor taking the second place.

Even though the announcement of BS4 norms impacted the economy and affected the two wheeler industry, any significant difference in sales of the Activa is visible and this continued until June with the sales figure topping with 2,34,767 units. When compared to the sales obtained over the course of 6 months, the Honda Activa saw a dramatic increase in sales and topped the chart and takes the first place in the list till now.

Hero Splendor


The starting of 2017 was fortunate for Honda Corporation as Hero Splendor opened with a sales figure of 208,512 units. But somehow Splendor lost its track and came second when the sales of Activa doomed by an increase of 8,527 units by February. The sales figures show that the sale of Hero Splendor was moving through a steady path, but the irregular yet the ever increasing sales of the Honda Activa pushed it in the second place.

Hero Spendlor

Hero Splendor shows a 208,571 in February and 208,571 in March, but a marginal decrease in sales can be seen when it dipped to 226,681 units, yet the Hero Splendor holds the second position with 2,35,832 units figure in May and it continued until June even though it decreased to 2,19,103 compared to 2,34,767 sales figure of Activa in the month of June.

Hero HF Deluxe


The first month of 2017 was a surprise comeback of Honda CB Shine with a figure of 70,294 and came below Hero HF Deluxe that scored 122,202 in January. It was very important to note that, the Hero Passion overtook it with 69,763 units against the Honda CB Shine. When the reported sales figure of previous month Dec 2016 is considered it is a big increase from the 20,213 unit of sale.

Hero HF Deluxe



The Hero HF Delux shows a 121,902 unit of sale in February and it went up to 137,712 in March, a sudden increase of 15,810 in sales secured the third position for this Hero two wheeler and this continued with 143,794 in April and 140,769 despite BS4 norms.

The difference from 122,202 unit of sale from January to the big 1,54,655 units in June saw a gross increase of 32,453 in the past six months and if this continues, Hero HF Delux will surely hold the third position in the coming months.

Hero Passion


Hero Passion

The Hero Passion started slowly and saw a huge growth in February with 69,763 to 85,166 units in March. The 25,321 units of sale increased when compared to previous two months and this remained trend remained in May in a reflective sales unit of 89,399. However, in June the Hero Passion witnessed a dramatic decrease in sale per units of almost 10,000 units and holds a 78,889 unit sales value in June and holds the fourth position in overall sales .

Honda CB Shine lagged behind Hero Glamour in sales with 1,400 units from February even though it had a number of 70,294 units in sale compared to Hero Glamour which only made a 38,204 sales unit in January. TVS XL Super Moped also surpassed it in March but in April, the CB Shine came back with a healthy figure of 100,824. Even though in May it underperformed with only 86,600 units and then again came down in June to 69,108, the Honda CB Shine still holds the fifth position with the TVS XL Super Moped coming right just below.
