After a lot of rumours and misunderstandings, Pune based premium real estate group DS Kulkarni Pvt. Ltd. Officially stated that they bought Garware's stake to start DSK's two wheeler entrepreneurship career. "We always wanted to get into the manufacturing business. We thought this opportunity should be explored. Garware did not have any intention of selling the business, they came to us to help us sell their bikes" said Shirish Kulkarni , managing director of DSK Motowheels. There were severe confusions last week regarding DSK's move towards Hyosung.
However the dealership has been named DSK Motowheels, will be associated with Korean giant S&T Motors and would become the exclusive distributor of Hyosung motorcycles in India. "Our aim is to reach 90% localisation within the next 12 months. This will help in making the bikes more affordable for the customers. For example, the 650cc bike will be cheaper by `1.5 lakh approximately if localisation goes to 90%" Kulkarni added.
DSK has already embedded their hologram in Toyota dealership. The brand value they have been gained then, would be a good platform to sell Hyosung poducts in the country. The company is also planning a full-fledged plant within 24 months to manufacture Hyosung bikes. Presently bikes are being assembled at Wai in Maharashtra.
At present, there are 18 dealerships throughout India for Hyosung Motorcycles. And DSK is looking to add more dealerships to sell more models.
