Vespa LX 125 launched in India

Vespa, founded in the year 1946, is an Italian brand of scooter manufactured by Piaggio. Piaggio is the largest two-wheeler vehicle manufacturer in Europe and holds the 4th position in the world. Vespa scooters are famous for its distinctive outlook. Vespa had made two forays in India with Bajaj Auto in 1960 and LML Motors in 1980. Later Vespa had been pushed out from Indian market.

Here is a good news for all Vespa lovers. Vespa has launched a stunning model, LX 125 in India on April 27th ,2012. It is the third foray of the company to India. In European countries, Piaggio deals with a range of low to high power scooters wherein India, they reinforced the connection between rural and semi-rural markets through selling three-wheeler passenger and good carriers and four-wheeler trucks. Apart from Vespa LX 125, Piaggio is contriving to launch affordable, fast and stylish bikes with engine capacity ranging from 50cc to 1,200cc, under the brand 'Aprilia'.



Piaggio Vespa LX 125 is the only model available in the Indian market. It has a 124cc 4 stroke engine and has got good fuel-efficient. Piaggio is trying to beat their competitors in India which includes Honda Activa, Dio, Suzuki Access 125 and Hero Pleasure in every sense by its superior performance.

Piaggio is moving brilliantly by developing products for Vespa completely in India rather than importing from Europe. Importing products from Europe will not be practicable in the India since the price will be high. The company has opened a research and development centre in India with 13 engineers. Presently, the company has the capacity to produce 150,000 units per annum at Baramati, Maharashtra. Vespa is expecting a sales of 12,000 units per month from October onwards.

Vespa is the most famous world icon of Italian technology and style. It is one of the easily recognisable brands in Europe. In India, Vespa LX125 costs Rs. 66,661/- (ex-showroom Pune). Indians are waiting for a price-budgeted vehicle from Vespa. Now it has 50 dealerships spread over 35 cities. Next year they are planning to make it 100 dealers across 70 cities.
