The new G 310 R is the cheapest and lightest BMW Motorrad you may get. As this is the cheapest BMW bike it doesn't mean that it lacks the essence of built and riding quality of the premium BMW bikes. This one clearly carries the S 1000 R genes. In this bike, they have incorporated maximum quality, excellent workmanship and extraordinary technology with a reduced cylinder capacity.
This lightweight bike is powered by 313cc, water-cooled, single cylinder, 4-stroke engine with 4 valves and two overhead cams. It has a rated output of 34 bhp power @ 9500 rpm and a peak torque of 28 Nm @ 7500 rpm. It can reach a top speed of 143 kmph with a mileage of 36.05 kmpl. Engine is then mated with a 6-speed synchro-mesh gearbox, integrated in the motor housing. Power is then transmitted using endless O-ring chain with shock damping in rear wheel hub.
The G 310 R features a power headlight with sporty headlight fairing, dynamic fuel tank trim and typical roadster proportions, which transforms it into an eye-catcher on the street. The use of short seat helps in maintaining roadster dynamic in rear portion of the bike, which gives a motorsport look. It also uses gold anodised fork and brake calipers which emphasize the workmanship of this machine.
The front suspension uses an upside down fork while rear suspension has directly hinged monoshock with adjustable pre-load. Braking force of this BMW lies in the hands of 300 mm single disc with 4-piston radially bolted fixed calipers at the front and 240 mm single-piston floating calipers for rear. The bike is equipped with BMW Motorrad ABS system.
According to BMW, this new bike offers a stress-free ride through streets with its unique built quality and advanced engineering. The successful ergonomic layout of the handlebars, footrests and control elements ensures a superb riding sensation.
