Royal Enfield still going stronger despite the entry of global biggies

India's oldest motor company Royal Enfield has reported that they are going to increase their plant capacity to meet the demands. But, it is believed that even this enlarging will not reduce the waiting period of 10-month to get Bullet after booking.

They are planning to increase the present productions at their Chennai plant and they are setting up a plant of capacity 1,50,000 units at Oragadam. Bullet-Classic 500, Classic 350, Thunderbird Twinspark and Bullet 350 UCE are the five models of bullet available in the market.

In the 9 month calender, which ends in September 2011, Enfield sold 55,615 bikes, more than what it sold in 12 months last year. For the first time, Royal Enfield sold over 20,000 motorcycles in the last quarter, which is a great achievement, and that is up by 57 per cent over the same quarter last year.

It is importing batteries from Italy. The company is all set to begin a paint shop factory, which will be the first important thing to come up in the Rs.350 crore worth Oragadam plant. This new factory will be ready to work by 2013.
