
"It is correct that we are in talks with BMW. We are looking at a technical contract. I will not be able to share any further detail at this moment. We are honored with what BMW has opined about us and, therefore, we are coming in public about this partnership. We will come with more details in due course but not in the distant future" said TVS chairman, Venu Srinivasan.
However, there is no exchange of shares in this contract, but to benefit each other's sale; both brands will make use other brand to develop their sale. That is, while BMW helps TVS with its technical knowledge to add quality to TVS bikes, TVS will provide its showrooms and centers to promote BMW's high end motorcycles. The tie between TVS and BMW will result a huge competition in commuter as well as premium segment. Earlier Hero Motocorp had also announced a technology tie-up with US-based motorcycle manufacturer, Erik Buell Racing (EBR) for engines.
