Hyosung, the world renowned bike makers is planning to invest their money in Indian markets by 2012. They are planning to launch their premium product, GT250R in India by early 2012. This super bike is expected to give a grand opening for Hyosung in the Indian market.
In India, to make an impact, Hyosung GT250R has to get the pricing tag right, otherwise in Indian market, which is getting flooded with foreign bike manufacturers, it will be difficult for them make an impression.
Keep in mind next year we expect the Yamaha Fazer 250 and the KTM Duke 200 to be launched and surely they will pose a great threat to Hyosung. The Hyosung product which has no compromise on its performance must be competitive in its price to stay alive in the hunt.
The Honda CBR250R in India which comes in the same category as that of the GT250R is priced between Rs 1.5- 1.75 lakhs on road and Industry sources confirm the Hyosung is looking at price range 2-2.25 lakhs on road, which means the prices are on the higher side.
The bike has got 250cc V-twin generating around 30bhp and 22 Nm of torque. Its not a radical design and its very similar to the design of the famous Hyosung GT650R with a small capacity engine. The Hyosung GT250R should be looked as their volume bike and a pricing strategy for Rs 1.5 lakhs could really spice up the 200-250cc segment.
