In the Indian two wheeler market, for a long period of time, it is the Hero MotoCorp, who owns the no.1 spot and it is Bajaj auto who owns the no.2 spot. The other positions kept on changing, but these two stood unchallenged.
The first turn around was that Honda displaced TVS for the number 3 spot. This was a proof of the decline of the influence of Chennai based TVS in the two wheeler scenario and the raise of a new hero, Honda.
And now, the time has come for Bajaj. If the Bajaj company doesn't react quickly, the Honda company will surely overtake them to take the no.2 spot. The recent sales figures proves the above statements.
While Bajaj's local sales stood almost flat at 2.04 Lakh units for the month of February 2012, Honda managed to sell just 7000 units less, as they jumped to a whopping 1.97 Lakh units for the last month.
The bigger point worth consideration is that these figures are despite the fact that Honda is yet to launch their proper entry level commuter bike-Yuga 110. It will be great to see how these companies will compete each other.
