Honda looking to achieve the no.1 spot in Indian two wheeler market

Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India(HMSI), the Indian branch of Japanese biggie Honda have overtaken TVS to achieve the third spot in November sales. This is a great milestone and they are behind only to Bajaj and their former alley Hero.

Honda, with this achievement, is clearly announcing the success of their India strategy, which will focus on a rapid product roll out at aggressive prices. The report stated that by March 2012, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) will commission its second production line at the newly commissioned Rajasthan plant.

With the new plant at Rajasthan and one at Karnataka, 2.4 lakhs to 3 lakh units can be produced annually. Honda is keen to prove a point after its recent split with the Hero Group which has, since, taken over the two-wheeler leadership mantle.

In order for Honda to remain a market leader, it must not only maintain the high attractiveness and of but also further cost-competitiveness to match the low prices of these competitors said the Honda CEO.
