Piaggio to build Vespa LX125 at their own plant at Maharashtra

Piaggio, the foreign company who is trying their best to earn a strong position in Indian two wheeler market is all set to launch their power scooter, the iconic brand Vespa, for the Indian youth and the middle class people. The main threat faced by the Piaggio group, while launching this new product is that, the power, pricing and the fuel efficiency must be high enough to compete with the experienced players in this segment like Honda, Mahindra etc.

In fact Piaggio re-entered Indian market after 13 years. Previously, this company had tie ups with Bajaj and later with LML till 1991. Piaggio re-surfaced with their new Vespa LX125 at the Indian Auto Expo 2012. Vespa LX125 has a four-stroke engine with 125cc capacity with an automatic CVT transmission for a smooth performance.

The performance and the fuel efficiency is ensured with the supreme quality engine and technology provided by the company. Vespa LX125 will be launched with an engine of 125 cc, with 10.7 bhp and a torque of 9.6 Nm and also will be available in different colors and shades. Vespa LX125 will be priced around Rs. 55,000 to 65,000.

For pricing to be competitive, the company can't afford the product to be imported from other nations. Because of that, Piaggio is manufacturing their product, Vespa LX125 at their own manufacturing unit in India which is located at Baramati in Maharashtra. This will allow them to give a price tag which is competitive with other company prices.
