After the activation of BS-IV emission laws in India, here comes the much anticipated GST. GST is the latest tax policy from the central government which develops as Goods and Service Tax. When GST hits on the Indian Economy, the tax can be varied and this would result in gaining as well as reducing the price of various commodities. However, GST is rather a welcoming news for the Automotive sector. From the post-GST period, there would be a reduction in the tax rate for premium cars and motorcycles.
The GST will be effective from 1st of July 2017 and before that, Indian bike builders like Bajaj and Royal Enfield has announced a price cut off on their models. It is to pass on the GST advantage to the customers.
The price reduction of Bajaj and RE models depends on the model and the state that which bike has been purchased from. Bajaj has announced as massive price reduction of over 4500 INR. Meanwhile, RE is yet to reveal their revised ex-showroom pricing of their models.
Other Indian and international bike and car makers are also set to revise their ex-showroom pricing from this period of time.
