Kerala Motor Vehicles Department Launches e-Payment

The e-payment helps you to pay fees online of non-transport vehicles and new vehicles.

Trivandrum: Computerizing the State, Kerala Government rolled out e-payment facility across the State. The facility was inaugurated by Honourable Chief Minister of Kerala, Oomen Chandy. The function was beatified by the presence of Transport Minister, Aryadan Mohammed, MLA, K Muraleedharan, Transport Commissioner, Rishi Raj Singh, and other department officials.



Through the service people can pay fees online of non-transport vehicles and new vehicles. The facility is now available in 73 regional transport offices (RTO) across the state. Public can access the official website of Kerala Motor Vehicle Department, keralamvd.gov.in directly and through Akshaya centres to make e-payment. The all new service of Kerala Government will be a huge boost for the Motor Vehicle Department. It not only saves the time of public, but also reduces the workload of officials. At the same time, it can bring down the allegations of bribery and malefactors faced by the department for years. Above all, the new facility makes things trouble-free for the people.

The Motor Vehicle Department had introduced the e-payment facility as a pilot project in State Capital, in September 2011. Later the facility was extended to Kazhakuttom, Parassala, Neyattinkara, Nedumangad and Attingal. Collecting a total revenue of Rs. 20 crore till date, the project became a huge success. Reports show that around 95% of the motor vehicle tax of the new non-transport vehicles comes through e-payment in Trivandrum.

Initially, the service is offered only to the account holders of SBT and SBI. The facility will be available to the rest bank account holders soon.

To make things more easier, the department is working out to collect tax and fees of transport vehicles also through e-payment.
