2014 BMW K1600GT Sport Unveiled

Finally, German motorcycle giant BMW Motorrad announced a sport variant of its flagship tourer the K1600GT, called the 2014 K1600GT Sport. Except few changes, the K1600GT Sport is just the same K1600GT. The firm hasn't revealed the price of this sporty BMW monster yet.



Yup! It's the few alterations what zeal the bike a different look than its sibling. Featuring a lower windsheild, black wheels, black passenger grab rails, Sakhir Orange/Black Storm Metallic paint and a redesigned seat, the bike becomes a sportier, and a baggier luxury tourer.



It seems that BMW crafted the sport version of the K1600GT inspired by a highly successful sport tourer, Honda Gold Wing F6B. The Gold Wing F6B is the sport variant of the Gold Wing. BMW Motorrad expects a huge turnover with the its all new sport tourer.

Well, there is no change in the technical specifications of the K1600GT. It is powered by the same 1649cc, Oil-/watercooled 4-stroke in-line 6-cylinder, two overhead camshafts, four valves per cylinder engine. Delivering a top output of 160 hp at 7,750 rpm and a peak torque of 160 hp at 7,750 rpm, the bike acts to be more than a tourer. It's mated with a 6-speed, helical gears transmission.



Ensuring more fuel efficiency, it is coupled to Electronic intake pipe injection, digital engine management (BMS-X), and Closed-loop 3-way catalytic converter, emission standard EU-3. And it gives back a mileage of 22 kmpl at a speed around 90 kmph.

This mammoth sport tourer is fast enough to pick you to a stunning top speed of 202 kmph. The machine is run in Premium Unleaded petrol.



The K1600GT Sport is crafted out of the same Bridge-type frame, cast aluminium, load-bearing engine that is seen in the K1600GT. Along with a BMW Motorrad Duolever; central spring strut front suspension and with a BMW Motorrad Paralever rear suspension, the bike gives you the best in class ride and comfy. Remember, it's a tourer machine. So you can't compromise anything that may hurt comfort level.

Handing over confidence to the rider, the bike is installed with 4-piston fixed calipers dual disc brake with a diameter of 320 mm at front and a double-piston caliper single disc brake with 320 mm diameter. The bike has ABS as standard. The bike is heavy and it weighs 308 kgs. It has a fuel tank capacity of 26.5 liters.
