Adding one more tow-wheeler to the garage, Yamaha Motor Company launched a high performing middle-weight naked sportsbike, the MT-09. The bike is expected to be in the US and Europe Yamaha stores soon. The MT-09 is priced at $7990 (~ Rs.4.62 lakh) in the US, and will be re-named as the FZ-09 replacing the FZ8.
As Yamaha introduces the MT-09 quoted as the 'darker side of Japan', all the company wants is to rule the middle-weight naked sportsbike class. Of course, the machine is stunning, stylish, agressive and viral. Coupled with tons of features, it's for sure, the bike will be a great option for those who feel, the FZ1 is unaffordable.
The MT-09 is coupled with a light-weight 847cc, liquid-cooled engine. The machine is caapbale to deliver a promsing power of 115PS @ 10,000 rpm and gorgeous torque of 87.5 Nm @ 8,500 rpm. Its engine is wedded with a constant mesh gear transmission.
It is moulded out of Diamond frame, which enables better reliability and appearance to the bike. Uncompromising anything in comfort, Telescopic forks at front and Swingarm at rear do the responsibility of suspension. Don't be stingy and scared to throttle more and to the fullest and go to the maximum speed, you have Hydraulic dual disc brake at front and a Hydraulic single disc at rear. More impressively, the MT-09 is also available in ABS, which is optional and you need to shed out a bit more pennies for that.
The MT-09 weighs 188 kgs and has a fuel tank of 14 liters, which switches on even long wanderings. Yamaha claims that a single tank can make you moved up to 240 km with an economy of 17 kmpl.
Along with stunning technical specifications, the MT-09 is also mated with incredible features too. The bi-wheeler has a stress-free ergonomics and a slim-fit riding position. Sport riding or weekend trips or daily commuting or whatever mode of bi-wheeling, the tapered handle bars, long and flat seat, and sculpted fuel tank certify comfortable ergonomics. The machine absolutely light and easy to handle. Being coupled with a light-weight 850cc 3-cylinder engine and an all new CF aluminium die-cast frame, the rider feels the least weight and perfect manoeuvrability. Its monocross suspension with asymmetric CF die-cast swingarm, is way superb and responsive. The 3-into-1 exhaust is the other major stuff in it. It ensures better balancing and agile handling and moreover a throaty note as well. Alas, the light-weight 10 spoke alloy wheel and 17-inch radial tyres grantees beauty and stability to the machine.
