Yet another fluidic velocity from Hyundai Motor Company. This time with the upgraded version of mid-size saloon, Elantra. Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) launched the fifth generation Elantra in New Delhi. The vehicle typically stands for its much reckoned fluidic design as seen in Eon, i10, i20 and Verna which are huge success in the Indian automobile industry. The new Elantra has already bagged the North American car of the year award.
"The new Elantra was launched in US in 2011 and it has received overwhelming response worldwide. We are confident that in India also this will be a success. Coming to the executive segment, the new Elantra completes our line up in India" said HMIL Managing Director and CEO, BS Seo.
The fifth generation Elantra is available in both petrol and diesel variants. The four cylinder 1,797cc petrol engine is powered by 149.5 PS @ 6,500 rpm and 181 Nm of torque @ 4700 rpm. Whereas, the diesel hatchback is run by a four cylinder 1,582cc CRDi diesel engine which is pretty efficient to pull out 128 PS @ 4000 rpm and 265 Nm of torque between 1,900-2,750 rpm.
The company assures that both hatchbacks are fuel efficient to provide mileage of 22kmpl and 16kmpl for diesel and petrol variants respectively. The new Elantra comes in 7 variants comprised of an automatic petrol and an automatic diesel variants. The petrol variants are priced between Rs.12.51-14.74 lakh, mean while the diesel options are tagged at Rs 12.91-15.85 lakh (Ex-showroom Delhi). The Elantra is bestowed in Silver, Desert bronze, Shimmering white, Indigo night, Black, Red, Blue sky metallic and Gray colors.
HMIL has already acquired 800 bookings for Elantra till the date. The company targets to sell a margin of 2800 units per month. The major competitors of Elantra are Chevrolet Cruze and Toyota Corolla.
