New Mercedes-Benz E Class Launched at Rs.41.5 lakh

The facelifted E Class comes in three variants- E200 CGI Petrol, E250 CDI, and Special Launch Edition.

Premium car manufacturer, Mercedes-Benz India Private Limited launched the most awaited car of the firm in the second half of the year 2013, the E Class. The refreshed variant that comes with a lot of changes is well crafted to stand firm at the top position among the current generation automobiles. The E Class is available in 3 versions: the E200 CGI Petrol, E250 CDI, and the Special Launch Edition. Rs. 41.5 lakh, Rs. 44.48 lakh, and Rs. 49.9 lakh are the respective ex-showroom price of the models.



The company calls it as the best E Class launched till date. The all new E Class is mated with some interesting changes. A newly designed dual headlamp which is separated by stunning daytime running LED lamps. Accompanied with an aggressive front bumber, the E Class now looks even sportier than showcasing its classicism. Concurrently, the ED tail lamps with fibre optics ensures some wide angle to the car.

Now the E Class is offered with more safety features. It is equipped with an Active Bonnet mechanism, Acceleration skid control (ASR), 8 airbags, Brake Assist system, standard Pre Safe technologies, Electronic Stability Program, and the active parking assist feature.

Getting in to the car, a re-designed trapezoid-shaped high-gloss information display centre console welcomes you. With the Nappa leather upholstery, panoramic sunroof and a new multifunction steering wheel with shift paddles, you feel a refreshing touch to the car.

Nevertheless, there is no changes with the engine. The E200 petrol version is powered by a 1991cc, 4 cylinder engine, which delivers maximum power of 184 Hp at 5500 Rpm and maximum torque of 300 Nm at 1200-4000 Rpm. It is coupled with a 7G-TRONIC Plus automatic transmission. The engine can accelerate 0-100 kmph in 7.9 seconds, while the top speed is 233 kmph.

Meanwhile, the E250 CDI Diesel engine is wedded with a 2143cc, 4 cylinder engine. It is capable to produce stunning power of 204 Hp at 4200 Rpm and gorgeous torque of 500 Nm at 1600-1800 Rpm. Its engine is mated with a 7G-TRONIC Plus automatic transmission. The car reaches 0-100 in just 7.5 kmph. Its top speed is 242 kmph.

While launching the E Class, Mercedes Benz India Managing Director and CEO Eberhard Kern commented, "Today the Indian market is not in the top ten global markets in terms of volumes for Mercedes but we believe in the potential of the market. Our expectation is that it will be in the top ten by 2020. The base on which we are working is that by 2020 the overall car market in India will be 7 million units, up from 2.6 million last year. So the potential is huge in India and we are preparing ourself for the future although 2013 will not be a good year for the auto sector here."

"The company has been focusing on new product launches and network expansion. The new E Class is yet another example of our efforts to bring the latest global product in India at the shortest possible time. It was showcased globally in January at Detroit auto show and commercially launched in Europe in March and in June it is in India," he added.
