German premium car manufacturer, Porsche Automobil Holding SE, launched the upgraded Cayman S sport car in India at Rs. 93.99 lakh (ex-showroom New Delhi). The Cayman S is offered in two variants- Manual and Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK). The revamped variant is faster, more efficient and more powerful than its predecessor. Porsche is a wholly subsidiary firm of Volkswagen AG.
"Ever since its international debut, the Cayman has been applauded for its excellent handling and performance. In fact, along with the Boxster, the model won the coveted 2013 World Performance Car award this March. It is built for driving through bends like few other sports cars and offers an outstanding sports car experience combined with the practicality of everyday driving," said Mr. Anil Reddi, Director of Porsche India.
The Cayman S comes with a 3,436cc, flat-six cylinder, Mid-engine. It delivers stunning power of 325 hp @ 7400 Rpm and gorgeous torque of 370 Nm @ 4,500 - 5,800 to fly the machine to a top speed of 283 km/h (manual).
The car can clock 100 kmph in just seconds with the more powerful PDK version. The manual variant is wedded with a rear-wheel drive 6 speed transmission, while the PDK model is coupled with rear-wheel drive 7 speed driveline layout.
Being a premium luxury car, the German car manufacturer hasn't compromised anything on feature, safety, reliability, and manoeuvrability. An optional Sport Chrono package is provided to have more control and to make faster the Cayman S. Moreover, a sports mode as standard is also installed with the machine that allows the driver to select the best riding option while driving. It also saves fuel and make engine responded unbelievably.
Its mixed aluminium-steel construction and the appraoach of engineers made the Cayman 30kg lighter. Mated with a longer wheelbase, a wider track and a larger wheelbase the car holds the drive dynamics of the rear-wheel drive sports car.
There is nothing much difference in the outline of the car. While it has got few alterations here and there to mould the machine to top class once again. The front cooling inlets in the bumper have gone larger, fog lamps got shifted to the corners, the daytime running LED headlights, shorter overhangs for better handling, sleek rear spoiler, and newly designed tail lights. Impressively, a high-end Burmester sound system can be optionally installed in the sports coupe.
