History of LML

LML (Lohia Machines Private Limited) company was formed in 1972 at Kanpur. The company first started manufacturing finished leather and synthetic yarn and machines in technical collaboration with ARCT France. The LML became a public limited company in 1978 and broadened mainly into processing synthetic yarn. In 1984 the company started a scooter project in technical collaboration with Italian scooter giant Piaggio. In 1986 the company launched its first scooter models named LML Vespa, NV3, LML Alfa, T5 and 4W. In 1987 Lohia Machines Private Limited changed their name to LML Ltd. In 1993 LML Select was launched.

LML Star 150

In 1995 the company introduced two new models of scooters named LML Supremo and LML Star. In 1996 the Company launched its first 125 cc scooter named Sensation. In 1997 the company launched 150 cc, 2-stroke engine fuel efficient model named LML Star. In 1999 LML launched its first 60 cc scooter named Trendy. In 1999 LML's joint venture with Piaggio ended in 1999. But the LML Company launched new two wheelers and launched 150cc LML Xpress. In 1999 the LML signed an agreement with Daelim Motor Company of South Korea to manufacture 4-stroke motorcycles.

In 2000 the company entered the Indian motorcycle market with 100 cc bikes like the LML Adreno and LML Energy. In 2001 the Company launched another version of 4-stroke motorbikes of LML 'Adreno' and LML 'Energy'. In 2002 the company's first 110 cc deluxe commuter motor bike named Freedom was launched. In 2003 the LML Freedom bike won as the best motorcycle of the year voted by BBC World. The LML Spirit of Freedom was launched by the end of 2003. In 2004 the company introduced the first 150 cc LML bike named Graptor. The bike was the first native designed bike from Italy. In 2004 the company launched 3 models, LML Graptor (150 cc), the LML Freedom Prima (110 cc) and LML Freedom Prima (125 cc). In the year 2004, the company started exporting bikes and scooters to various countries in Europe and Asia. In 2007 the company developed 4-stroke scooter for the export market and production started around at the end of 2008. In 2011 the new LML NV 4 Stroke scooter was launched in selected cities in India.
