The test mule of Hero Moto Corp shared similar looks as the Honda NXR150 Bros. It should be remembered that the NXR150 Bros isn't an authentic dirt bike but a street bike blessed with off road capabilities.
HMC (Hero Moto Corp) inked an agreement with Honda that it would continue to use Honda's engine technology as well as models until 2014 in India. So it could be the same Honda NXR150 Bros that will be launched in India as HMC dirt bike.
But there could be some uniqueness added by Hero Moto Corp to the NXR150 Bros to carve its identity in India.
The bike comes powered by 149.2 cc, 4-stroke engine. The SOHC engine with PGM-FI belts out maximum power of 13.8 bhp and peak torque of 13.6 Nm. The fuel tank of the NXR150 can contain 12 liters fuel with a 2.3-liters reserve. With a high ground clearance of 244mm and telescopic and mono-shock suspension in the front and rear
respectively the dirt bike delivers. The bike sports a disc brake in the front.
Brand Building
The strategy of the HMC to come up with a dirt bike in a 150cc segment is something that would baffle the auto pundits and it's a completely new segment for the bike major to begin with after being re-named/re-branded as Hero Moto Corp. Maybe it's a brand building exercise that HMC wanted to try post split with the Honda.
