TVS launches RTR Hyper Edge bike

Without much ado the Chennai-based bike major has launched Apache RTR naming it Apache RTR 160 Hyper Edge. It is no special bike and the TVS has made it clear the new 'Hyper Edge' is nothing but the cosmetically tweaked existent Apache model.



The make-over brought in some changes including a 'Hyper Edge' emblem over the aerodynamic air scoops, engine faring, graphics on the fender (front) and race stripes on fuel tank, roto pedal disc brakes in the front, split grab rails complementing the rear, forged brake levers, removable rear fender, digital console, sporty-looking new silencer with heat shiled , black alloy wheels with rims in red, aluminum foot pegs, LED tail lamps. But wait, if you thought TVS asks you to pay more for the Hyper Edge, you are mistaken. The price for the TVS Apache RTR 160 Hyper Edge remains in the Rs. 70,000 range.

The new TVS Apache RTR 160 Hyper Edge runs on a 159.7cc 4 stroke, single-cylinder engine that generates peak power of 15.2 bhp @ 8500 rpm and a peak torque of 13.1 Nm @ 6000 rpm, and the engine is mated to 5-speed transmission gearbox. Besides the Hyper Edge comes with electric and the kick start options, telescopic fork suspension in the front and monotube inverted gas-filled shox in the rear, and disc brakes in the front and drum brakes in the rear. Has a ground clearance of 180 mm and kerb weight of 136 kg.

Color options:
The new TVS Apache RTR 160 Hyper Edge comes in 4 color options of midnight black, pure white, sunset yellow and matte grey.

Looks like the 150 cc bike segment is heating up with many launches and the TVS Apache RTR 160cc Hyper Edge will have an edge over its competitors and stands as a good reply to other big players. The new TVS Apache RTR 160 Hyper Edge comes with an on-road price tag of Rs. 70,000.

However, will just some cosmetic make overs give the Apache RTR 160 Hyper Edge the needed edge over Karizmas, Fazers or Pulsars? Nonetheless, any one would thumbs up for better looks for same price, right?
