Its official - Yamaha SZ150 soon to make it to the Indian Roads

Yamaha FZ 16 has been a huge success to bring back focus and attention on Yamaha and no wonder the inspired company has been working to bring out new models in all segments and rein its supremacy in the bike market.

Yamaha SZ150 is one soon to launch commuter bike from the auto giant. However, unlike FZ16, the new SZ 150 is a commuter bike and targets regular commuters such as the office goers.

Not only that riders or consumers who thought that the Yamaha FZ 16 to be expensive can now breathe easy, for Yamaha has worked on a solution to address the cost issue, and the new SZ 150 will fit the bill of most riders.

It has been long since the discussion of launching the Yamaha SZ 150 was doing the rounds, but now the wait is over, almost. The Yamaha Motor India had stated that the second half of 2010 would witness the launch of their new 150cc bike, Yamaha SZ 150. However the bike caught attention of auto journalists first at the 2010 Auto Expo in Delhi; there were quite a few WOWs from the visitors who spotted the model. Furthermore, the bike was undergoing road tests in and around Pune which actually implies it will soon hit the roads.

The Yamaha SZ150 has borrowed the engine from its predecessor the FZ 16, however, the company has worked hard to provide a more fuel-efficient bike that would give a mileage of 50-55 kmpl of mileage rather than working on increasing torque or power (an office goer or regular commuter would vote for mileage than the torque).

The SZ 150 loses out on style and that awesome looks that FZ16 oozes, though not very bad it does maintain smart look, which is perfect for the commuter segment bikes.

The right combination of power and fuel efficiency will be the main features to look forward in Yamaha SZ150. Of course the price will be the ultimate factor that most office goers will plan to buy this bike. It is said that the bike will be price anywhere between Rs. 55,000 and 60,000 and if that will be the scenario, it will certainly be not a bad buy at all.

Bajaj Pulsar, Honda Unicorn and Pulsar LS 135 will face stiff competition from the Yamaha SZ 150 for sure.
