Mahindra started as a steel company in Mumbai. Exactly two years after India won its independence, a new name was adopted by the company - Mahindra & Mahindra (M & M). Mahindra Group was founded by two brothers named J.C Mahindra and K.C Mahindra. M & M manufacturing center is located at Pithampur in Madya Pradesh. Mahindra entered into automotive manufacturing in 1947 by introducing Willys Jeep onto Indian roads.
