Please let me know whether the use of Pondicherry registered vehicles

Please let me know whether the use of Pondicherry registered vehicles is banned in Kerala. If so, please let me know the procedures to be followed to make it legal. I have been using Bajaj Pulsar PY-01 regd. for more than two years. Though caught during general checking regn. problem was not raised. Lifetime tax was paid at Pondicherry RTO. The bike was bought on Aug 2011. Thank you.

Using a vehicle registered in another state is not banned in any state of India. You are free to use your vehicle anywhere in India.

But you are required to pay the road tax in that particular state. If you pay road tax, then you can use your vehicle in any state.

Recently Kerala RT officers started fining owners of Pondicherry registered vehicles who have not paid the taxes. Their point was that there are lots of people who register luxury cars in Pondicherry to avoid hefty taxes in Kerala.

Out of need I had to buy a vehicle from Pondicherry, and not to avoid heft tax. After all it was a bike.
Presently I am staying at home and using the vehicle in kerala. Hope paying the taxes would avoid further fuss.
