You can install a 350cc Greaves Lombardini diesel engine on it and use the existing gearbox. But such conversions are illegal.

Hi!
You need to do the following to convert your Petrol Bullet into a Diesel one -
1. Find a second hand Greaves Lombardini Diesel Engine 325/360 cc for the bike. These engines are used in plenty in pumping set applications and can be sourced cheap.
2. After getting the engine, find a mechanic who is best in doing such conversions/ fabrications and get the engine installed from him.
3. Then lastly but the most important step, get the engine number endorsed on the RC Book by the RTO Authorities where your bike is registered.

No AP RTOs are now not doing these endorsements - but my bullet was endoresed somewere in 1998 wid diesel on it - and later diesel engine was removed for some reason..
am getting it reinstalled

Thanks for your comments, without endorsement in RC book, its waste of money to do the conversion, however due to huge price hike in petrol, our mind is turning in to diesel bullet

Do not use old lambordini engine .
better try to get new Yanmar engine .
simple points lambordini 325cc only 3.5hp
But yanmar 412cc gives you more thn 7hp .
And old diesel engine act as fogg machine too.

an old model petrol bullet can be replaced with a diesel engine and made to run. i am using it since 1964. parts are easily available, and have learnt some mechanism in maintaining it also. hence without any break-down i have travelled from kanyakumari to bidar and mangalore to chennai. whew.....,,,,,,,,,,

Forget yanmar and Lombardinis just but a ninbo thre circle electric start z175 engine. Thse engine are made in china and are easily available in india @around 10 to 12 k. Though made in china but the ninbo TC z 175 is very reliable. These engine have max rpm of 2600 but any mechanic can make it rev upto 3600 rpm. If you really want very high quality stuff try Kohler engines. You can also go for a twin cylinder Kohler to get more than 13 hp. I have converted my petrol to diesel bullet ,,, and getting milage of 75+ (tested) and also the max speed is 65 kms (which I believe is good enough for Hyderabad traffic) and saves of rs 1000 every month...

its 3k kms already need to take the bike for service at RE uppal showroom

its possible to change the endorsement of vehicle engine number in papers in such way by me recently i have done a job a bike from karnataka was available in hyderabad without noc and without bike papers i have given an new registration number of telangana ts12 and also bike from nellore without any papers was registered by myself at vijayawada without any change in bike engine number i am also from nalgonda
