What is the difference between BHP and PS ?

Some years back most of the bikes were indicating its power in BHP. But now the bike manufacturers are showing the power in PS.

Is there any difference between PS and BHP?

Hi, PS is a unit of power in German. PS is a German name Pferdestärke means horse strength. The term PS was first used by Germans, but is still commonly used in other countries also. 1 HP is = 746 Watts while 1 PS is only 735 Watts which is the main difference.

Bhp = Brake Horse Power. Its a metric (British) unit of measurement of an the horsepower of an Internal combustion engine. It is calculated on a device known as a Dynamometer. The term 'Brake' is used for a device which is used to hold the engine (that is being tested on a Dynamometer) at a specific rpm (revolutions per minute).
Ps = Pferdestarke i.e German Horsepowwer. 1 Ps = 0.98362 Bhp.
Bike manufacturers use the term Ps because it the power look bigger for ex Yamaha R15 develops 17 Ps which looks better then writing 17x0.98362 = 16.76 Bhp.
