Chennai-based two-wheeler giant TVS Motor Company has come up with 2 new launches; of a self clutch bike Jive and a gearless scooter Wego.
It's been a wacky Wednesday today for TVS Motor Company. The company rolled out TVS Jive, the first auto-clutch bike of India and TVS Wego, automatic gearless scooter. The bike and the scooter were launched today in Chennai and Jive comes with a price tag of Rs.41,000 and Wego is priced at Rs. 42,000.
With the series of the launches including TVS Flame DS 125cc, TVS Jive and TVS Wego, the Chennai based two wheeler maker wants to seize a piece of market for bike market. Venu Srinivasan Chairman of TVS Motor Company reiterated the same that the company aims at 10% target in the next 9 months' time; hoping to sell 4,000 units of TVS Flame DS 125cc and 20,000 units of TVS Jive per month this fiscal. The company plans to hike the selling target of Flame units to 10,000 a month, the next fiscal. The Chairman further remarks that the TVS Motor Company had invested Rs. 25 crores to develop TVS Jive and put in Rs.50 crores to develop the Wego.
TVS Jive has an indigenously developed engine but the gearbox is outsourced from TVS' Indonesian subsidiary. The unique part of Jive is that it comes with automatic clutch and the engine has rotary gear technology. Because of these features the rider doesn't need to hold the clutch level during gear change.
While TVS Jive can be purchased from second week of December, production of TVS Wego will commence from January 2010.
