Hold your breath all you bike connoisseurs, as you will be witnessing history very soon- UK's Triumph Motorcycles, the 100-year-old bike maker is letting one of their demons loose from their stable to roar on the Indian roads, Rocket III Touring 2300cc. The International motorcycles manufacturers are now realizing that India is a potential market in the league of super bikes and many had a glimpse of the Touring 2300cc at the Auto Expo 2008. The Rocket III Touring will blow away your minds with its sheer looks, and the power quotient is boldly conspicuous as anyone would expect from a 2300cc bike.
Triumph's export manager Nick Bloor had revealed that the company is in touch with almost eight two wheeler manufacturers in India and the list included Bajaj Auto, which is a strong contender to strike a deal and one of the lifestyle product company was also in the league. Triumph is looking at have a minimum of 3-4 dealerships in the major cities of the country.
Will the new launch be a hit in India?
The news of Rocket III Touring' launch in India might have given some jerks to the Indian bike making companies but of late the Indian consumer has seen a series of super bikes from the local brands, which have achieved the success status quite comfortably. That said, one cannot ignore the fact that India has a reasonably good number of consumers who are passionate about bikes in general and for them Rocket III will definitely be an anxious wait.
There is another hard fact about Triumph Rocket III Touring- the bike expected to be well above to Rs. 18 lakhs! Yes, this whopping price might break your heart and the exuberant price tag seems to be targeted only towards elite and obviously for an average consumer it will be distant dream to own the Rocket III Touring.
The good
The chrome finish and the original styling of the Rocket III Touring will be unchanged, which will be a mark of authenticity. The super bike is powered by 2300cc three cylinder engine, fuel injected, which is expected to give a maximum torque of 200Nm torque @ 2500rpm. The speed will be anywhere above 70kmph.
The Rocket III Touring features an unbelievable torque and 2.3 litre engine, which will be the greatest strengths of the bike. The superb machine has already made a remarkable impression worldwide and now it is India's turn to get stunned by this super bike. The bike has the potential to cruise you at a high speed for almost 18 hours in day and it is ideal for all kinds of weather conditions.
The bad
The price tag of the Rocket III Touring will certainly add to the negatives of the bike. But a handful of them might still want to own this charmer despite the price and the company seems to cater this lifestyle product to customers who can afford it. The bike largely boasts of stupendous torque rather than the power out put and it does not follow the league of a racer bike, nevertheless it is fast enough for you to cruise through smoothly.
It is to be seen how the Indian consumers take the Triumph Rocket III Touring and whether the bike can actually take on the rough Indian roads. No doubt the Triumph bike looks hot but performance and acceptance in the Indian market has to be ascertained only after the launch. So let us wait and watch.
