Hero Honda to launch 11 models in 2-wheeler segment

NEW DELHI: Two-wheelers manufacturer Hero Honda is all set to launch 11 new models of two-wheelers in next 13 months across various categories.

Speaking at the 9th CII Marketing Summit, Hero Honda senior vice president marketing and sales Anil Dua said, "We have already launched one new model of Splendor and now plan to launch the rest 11 models in next 13 months."

At present the company is the market leader in the 100CC category with a market share of 63 per cent while in the 150+ CC category it enjoys a market share of 13 per cent. It has 24 per cent market share in the 125 CC categories of two-wheelers.


Recently the company had increased the price of its products across various categories various models by up to Rs 1,500 largely due to increase in input cost.

"We have increased the price of our products from Rs 100 to Rs 1500 mainly due to increase in input costs because of increase in inflation. The minimum increase in price has taken place in the entry-level bike CD Delux, the price for which has been increased by Rs 100. And its not that only Hero Honda has increased the prices; even other manufacturers have been forced to increase the prices of their products," said Dua.


When asked about the company's marketing plan for the upcoming festive season, Dua replied, "During the festive season we will not be concentrating too much on advertising. Our main focus will be ensure that the full range of our two- wheelers are available across the country."

Dua noted that the company will not shift its focus from the 100 CC category. He further added, "Since we are the leaders in the 100 CC category, we will not shift our focus from that category. Our main plan will be to launch new products in various categories."
