Bajaj Pulsar 200NS unveiled

The most awaited bike launch of the year has come. Country's homegrown bike major Bajaj Auto has unveiled new Pulsar 200NS.



Bajaj Pulsar launched a decade ago has changed the bike scape of India and has won hearts of many a million Indians, and even to date is undoubtedly the country's most popular bike brand.

"The new Pulsar 200 NS (Naked Sport) shows a new evolved Pulsar if not a revolutionary model. Leave aside the cosmetic tweaks it got, the Pulsar NS had gotten a new engine, chassis and transmission which makes all our waiting worthwhile in the first place.



But when we say new engine it boils down to the same liquid-cooled 200cc engine we saw in KTM Duke 200. When asked Bajaj Auto MD Rajiv Bajaj reiterated that there isn't any sharing of technology and/or components between KTM Duke 200 and Pulsar 200NS but other than slightly lower power and torque that's generated by Pulsar 200NS (23.5PS and 18.3Nm @8000 rpm) it has striking resemblance to the KTM Duke 200 including bore stroke ratio and transmission.

Photocopy-like looks aside, according to the MD, the new Pulsar 200NS is the best middle-class naked sports bike. The bike will be launched on a commercial scale during the next fiscal and Bajaj says they will keep the price of new Pulsar 200NS under Rs. 1 lakh. According to the company it will feature cutting-edge engine that will set benchmarks in terms of performance, emission and fuel efficiency.

The DTS-i technology is evolved to next level where in an SOHC 4-valved triple spark engine will be controlled by advanced ECU (electronic control unit) for better ignition and engine performance. The new Pulsar also comes with a six-speed gearbox. According to the company the new Pulsar will be manufactured at Chakan plant.
