Diwali and Dhanteras bring in some cheers to car and bike makers

Dhanteras or the Dhan trayodas is regarded as a very auspicious day especially during the Diwali festival season. People invest their money on something and believe buying during the opportune time will return goodness in manifold times.

This year Dhanteras has seen good turn over with many consumers buying gold, cars and bikes, Bihar especially has made record buying of cars and bikes.

The car makers that witnessed good sales include Maruti, Tata and Mahindra. While Maruti sold about 750 cars Mahindra stands second after selling 500 vehicles and Tata Motors recorded sale of 350 vehicles. The three auto majors have clocked more sales this year as compared to their own figures the previous year.



As a matter of fact not just the budget vehicles but there were even high-end models that retailed during the Dhanteras, and Toyota Motors had retailed about 85 cars (average price range of Rs.13 lakhs) and Ford Motors retailed 80 cars in high-end category (14 lakh rupees).

As for the bike sales, Hero Moto Corp tops the sales charts selling 3500 bikes (average bike cost Rs. 45k) and Bajaj Auto touched 3000 bikes mark followed by Yamaha which retailed 600 bikes and then TVS Motors stands last after selling 200 bikes on Monday.
