Diwali Special: Hero Honda comes with launch of all new Achiever

Looks like Hero Honda is preparing itself for the tough days ahead. While rumors are still floating about its joint venture breakup with the Honda, the bike major took inspiration from Yamaha Midnight Special FZ series launch and the Apache RTR 160 Hyper Edge launch by the TVS and is bracing itself up to stay in the competition with some revamped launches.

Hero Honda now comes up with the New Achiever, an upgrade of the already running Achiever. The previous version of the Hero Honda Achiever kissed the roads 5 years ago in 2005, a re-launch of it with minor tweaks happened in 2007 but sadly both these versions could get a grab of the market share. The auto major hopes to rewrite success with the new 2010 Achiever. I hope this Achiever achieves it because it has come out with not a few cosmetic tweaks but an all-new avatar.

The cosmetic tweaks will appeal as much as the design and performance upgrades the new Achiever had got. So, what can anyone look forward to in the new HH Achiever?

Hero Achiever

Engine cover and foot pegs in complementing black color with improved and glossier graphics and stickering on the body (the body shape remains the same). Besides, the new HH Achiever sports 5-spoked alloy wheels (black) and puncture-shy tuff up tubes. The new Achiever runs on 4-stroke, one-cylinder air cooled engine that displaces 149.1cc. The engine features ATFT Technology for enhanced performance and fuel efficiency as well as AMI (Advanced Microprocessor Ignition) for improved ignition. The new Hero Honda Achiever comes with a claim of very good mileage (unique in the 150cc segment) as compared to its rivals.

The new Hero Honda Achiever comes in 5 shades: Force metallic silver, candy blazing red, magnetic blue, black blue and black purple. The new HH Achiever comes with price tag of Rs. 73,700 (ex-showroom Bangalore price) and may come up to 80K on road.

From the price point of view, HH should have revisited and revised it, but wait there is still a hope for it, because the attempt by the Hero Honda draw people to buy this old horse (with new saddle as you may say) at the price is hardly appealing despite the high-fuel efficiency claims. All said the Diwali special from the Hero Honda lacked what it takes to crack louder.

And yes, the new Achiever comes with a tag line of "Solid, like you." Good luck Hero Honda Achiever.
