Yamaha to come with gearless scooters in India

If the bike market is too hot to handle for any auto maker, the gearless scooter market is still cold and dull with not many names in the 100cc as well as 125cc segments. Yamaha seems to have realized this and India Yamaha Motor, which is wholly-owned subsidiary of the Yamaha Motor Company, Japan plans to foray into the gearless scooter segment.

If sources are to be believed that coolest bike makers that has huge fan following in India is planning to launch gearless scooters in India. After some serious thought, survey and analysis the Yamaha officials say that they like to own their piece of share in the gearless scooter segment too.

The bike company is in a rush to have them on a steady growth path as the automobile industry seem to be picking up again after some declining trend in the last few months. The company realized that in order to grab a big bite it is essential to have model in every segment and so the neglected scooter segment will now receive some pampering from India Yamaha Motor.

Can a second magical phase for scooters market begin in India with Yamaha's models? Possible- considering the quality consciousness of the bike major. Yamaha has indeed confirmed that their teams are doing market research especially the Indian scooter market to gauge customers' pulse and expectations.

However, it is still not certain if they will launch a model from their existing line up of scooters (Yamaha team is studying the feasibility of having its scooters Neo 50cc, Fino 115cc and Spark 135 cc launched in India) or have a couple of models tailor made for the Indian market. As regards the speculations a 50cc scooter sounds a joke so expect in the 100 to 135cc range if not more.
