TVS launches MAX 4R the 110cc Utility Bike

TVS motors came with re-launch of its MAX 4R the commuter segment utility motorbike on July 10, 2010 in Indore.

Max 4R comes after little tweaking from its predecessor MAX 100R which was actually a hit amongst the two-stroke motorbikes way back in the 90's. Due to the stringent emission norms the bike under this segment had a natural death early this decade, but TVS will not want to lose its Max 100R fans.

The Chennai-based auto maker was smart enough to get the pulse that MAX 100R had caught the sense and the purpose of its rural customers. Its never-say-die attitude has given a fresh lease of life for the utility bike. The MAX 4R is obviously in its all-new avatar; the first big thing is that the TVS has adopted a 4-stroke, 110cc engine from its other hit model the TVS Star City which generates a maximum power of 8 bhp and 8.3 Nm of torque.

The MAX 4R is re-launched largely because of one vital reason- the demand in the rural areas for a simple yet cheeky bike that comes with an unbeatable price advantage. And based on the requirement of the rural customers, the bike definitely oozes simplicity. To testify the fact, the bike will not make it in the good-looking bikes category for sure, with absolutely no stylized features and the 4-speed gearbox is also another example to prove the fact.

Still surprising fact is that the new TVS Max4R bike is designed to carry a load of 200 kilos over long distances (perfect for small farmers to carry their small loads to market yards).

TVS MAX 4R

Although simple, the MAX 4R is practical by every sense of the word with comfortable seats, powerful headlamps, the shock absorbers enable to have a reasonably less uncomfortable ride in tough/no roads. The engine and the gearbox are supposed to give the rider ultimate fuel efficiency.
Besides the rear seat is detachable (to make room to carrying small loads) and four shock absorbers should make you at least not scream in pain for the bumpy ride that is expected in villages. The bike is fitted with 130mm drum brakes both at the front and the rear, and bike sports indicator and wheel guards; making it perfect VFM bike.

The TVS MAX 4R is priced about Rs. 37,590 (ex-showroom Indore) and will cost you roughly about 40,000 on road. So the MaxR is not an expensive vehicle when you consider its advantages and popularity.
