I'm still a proud owner and user of KH. Mine is 1986 vintage, one of the first lots that arrived in India. Was the most glamorous and high-tech scooter in those days. People used to watch in awe from both sides of the road when I used to ride it. A beauty in cherry pink which the sales agency folks demonstrated to be capable of 60 km per litre on highways, really a feat which is possible only for 4-stroke scooters these days. I still get about 40 km on highways, which is a rarity for modern 4-strokes after a decade of their lives. The appearance is still impressive. The color is almost as fresh as it was 30 years ago. I took it in Hyderabad.
I am a fan of Kinetic Honda design. The smooth curve of the silhouette without any sharp angle, unlike Activa or several of the new scooters, from the front leg guard to the tail end is so aesthetic and aerodynamically shaped. Steel guard tubings protect the body and even the shapely front mudguard from dents.
The milometer reads just about 66000 km which is a fact. I used to drive to my office and back. Also an occasional drive to the city. That is about 12 km a day on the average. Let's say 25 days a month. That is 300km a month. For 11 months a year( 1 month leave in Kerala) 3300 km a year. Till I retired in 1998. So 14 years. So about 36000km. Occasional city trips in Hyderabad till I returned to Kerala in 2006. Say 30 km per week. 120 per month and about 1500 per year. For 8 years about 12000 km. Total about 48000km till 2006.
In Kerala after shifting residence in 2006 about 5 km a day for 5 days a week. 25 a week and 100 a month and 1200 a year. So for 10 years it is 12000 km. So total 48000+12000 is 60000km.
Driving is still pretty smooth. No rattling sound while driving, which one might expect for even a 10-year-old scooter. Starts at the first press of the switch. Separate oil tank from which oil mixes with petrol. All indicators working. Tyres in pretty good shape though one of them is retreaded. Lock for helmet. I'm available at 9495560330.
