NEW DELHI: Chennai-based TVS Motor plans to turnaround its sales with the launch four new two-wheelers during the fiscal. The new launches will be a combination of all new bikes and scooters, and will be introduced during the festive period in October and early next year.
It will launch 125cc bikes and higher displacement models of its premium segment Apache brand and new Scooty models. The company launched an advanced variant of Apache fitted with indigenously-developed fuel injection on Monday in Delhi. The 160cc bike Apache RTR FI comes at Rs 64,990 (ex-showroom Delhi).
The company expects a 15-20% growth with sale of 15-lakh units this fiscal on the back of new product launches. TVS Motor marketing head HS Goindi said: “There are various products in the pipeline, which will hit the market in the next three-nine months. While the higher variant of the Apache will have 180cc and 200cc engines, we will also launch bikes in the fast-growing 125cc segment. Some new scooter models will also hit the market.”
TVS has posted flat growth in the first quarter of the fiscal selling 3.07-lakh units in April-June against 3.03-lakh units in the corresponding period of last year. The company plans a high-powered Scooty and will focus on new segments that fall in the entry-level 100cc StaR City to the upper-end of the 125cc Flame.
“The company has strengthened its presence in the premium segment with Apache. We will bring more products in the 125cc segment, and new scooters will push sales in the remaining part of the fiscal,” Mr Goindi said. The company is also developing CNG and LPG fired two-wheelers, but refused to comment on their launches.
It is banking high on exports and targets a 40% increase this year with overseas sales to 53 countries, mainly in the Asean region that will be fed from its plant in Indonesia.
