South-based homegrown two-wheeler maker TVS has announced that it will expand its operations concentrating in the East. The company will invest in West Bengal and has planned further expansion in its East India operations by de-merging its two-wheeler business with Mahabharat Motors Manufacturing Company in West Bengal.
The company has given approval for the demerger on Saturday by the West Bengal's Commerce and Industry Minister, Partha Chaterjee.
TVS Motor Company has entered into a MoU with Mahabharat Motors Manufacturing Company and will look forward to taking a big role so as to give the company a push for stronger presence in the East Indian market.
According to the MoU the technical support and personnel training for the manufacturing facility will be provided by TVS Motors.
The company confirmed that it would retain staff of the JV Company and use its manufacturing facility as hub to cater to the markets of the East. The third largest two-wheeler manufacturer expects to make 1000 units of bikes per month initially. The company has three manufacturing plants currently for its two wheelers and three wheelers; in Tamilnadu, Karnataka and Himachal Pradesh.
