The new bike has a 250cc liquid cooled twin cylinder 4 stoke engine delivering 26 hp @ 8500 rpm and generates 24 nm torque @ 7000 rpm. Compared to Honda CBR250R, the power of new GW250 is almost the same and the torque is a little less. GW 250 weighs approximately 180 kg and is slightly heavier than Honda CBR 250. Suzuki GW 250 is more of a naked street bike. The bike features are almost similar to Honda CBR 250R launched very recently in India.
The new GW250 adopted its design from the 1300cc B-king launched by Suzuki in the year 2007. The mileage of the new bike will be around 40 kmpl. The bike is expected to have a price tag between 1.5 to 1.75 lakhs.
Suzuki has started producing their new GW250 in China.
This will help the company to produce more GW250 bikes in a cost-effective way and export to other countries in the future. The new Suzuki GW250 is expected to go on sale in Brazil and Europe by 2012. Suzuki is planning to start a new production unit in India so that the bike can be manufactured and introduced at a moderate price thus improving the sales. This will be the marketing strategy of Suzuki Motorcycles India Ltd.
Suzuki Motorcycle's haven't had a major success in the Indian soil till now. All though they have launched models like Zeus, Heat, Slingshot, Slingshot Plus and Access, only Slingshot and Access had a little bit of success in India. Suzuki motor bikes are always being overshadowed by bike giants like Hero Honda, Bajaj and Honda in India.
The new Suzuki GW250 bike will have a tough competition ahead from Honda CBR250R and Kawasaki Ninja 250R.
