Hero group will launch its new brand identity on August 9, 2011 in London. Following the split with the Honda, Hero has been working rigorously to create a new brand identity to its Hero group – this means with a new brand name and logo. In fact the company has earmarked 180 crores for brandizing exercise and London-based Wolff Olins (Subsidiary of the Omnicom Group) the brand innovation specialist was mandated for the task. The group has all rights to continue to use the name Hero Honda until 2014 and during which time the new Hero brand can work on the brand promotion.
Hero Honda now announced that it will reveal its new identity post-Honda on August 09, 2011 in London. The much waited brand identity reveal will be the first step by Hero Honda post severing 26 year-old tie up with the Japanese auto maker Honda to establish its own brand and image.
The company release reads, “As a significant first step towards the company’s transformation into a major global brand, we would be unveiling our new brand name and identity in London on August 9.”
Hero Group and Honda have signed a new agreement during March 2011 according to which the Indian counterpart should pay the Japanese auto maker 45 billion yen (about Rs. 2,450 crores) until 2014.
The board of directors of Hero Honda Motors Limited met in Haridwar, on June 17, 2011 to consider and seal (if found good and fit) new name for the company around which new brand identity will be developed and it is said that the new name of the company that was finalized during the meet was Hero MotoCorp Limited. It is speculated that the new name for the brand models will be Hero Moto. This according to pundits is not a too much deviate much from the earlier established name Hero Honda.
The company roped in M/s Law & Kenneth as creative partner to Wolff Olins for the launch of their new brand for the company in London on August 9th. The group is assigned to devise brand positioning of the company after the launch.
Wish and hope Hero Moto Corp Ltd becomes as popular as Hero Honda.
