Kawasaki Ninja 650R launched

Kawasaki pro bike Nina 650R was unveiled by Bajaj Auto Ltd (BAL) and Kawasaki at BAL’s Pune plant on Wednesday, June 08, 2011.

Pegged at a price of Rs 4.57 lakh (ex-showroom price in Delhi), the Kawasaki Ninja 650R unleashes maximum power of 72 PS, and peak torque of 66 Nm.

Additionally the probiking bike comes with features including triple petal disc brakes, daylight running lights with the hazard indicators, MotoGP display, unique stunning under-slung exhaust and a twin cylinder engine which is calibrated for 91 octane fuel suitable for Indian road conditions.

Excellent ergonomics, super sport styling with impressive graphics and nimble handling all attract the younger biking generation. The Kawasaki Ninja 650R will be sold and serviced through the Bajaj Probiking.

Under the hood of the Ninja 650R comes the 649cc engine which delivers maximum power of 72 Ps @ 8500 and a peak torque of 7000 rpm. The engine is mated to a six-speed manual transmission gear box with liquid cooled technology. Alloy wheels with tubeless tyres are other look enhancing and convenient features and superior suspension system (both front and the rear) with great braking system give much needed safety to the rider. Road grip is excellent thanks to the wheel base and bike height. Kawasaki Ninja 650R dimensions are 2100mm x 760mm x 1200mm.

Rajiv Bajaj, MD of BAL was quoted saying, “We conceived Bajaj Probiking six years ago with the objective of making it the default destination for motorbike enthusiasts looking for premium and performance bikes. The Ninja 650R is the next step in realizing that objective.”

Yoshiro Segawa, MD, India Kawasaki Motors was quoted saying, “After setting up a wholly owned subsidiary in India, we have chalked out bigger plans for the performance aficionados of the country. With the launch of this bike, we together with Bajaj Probiking are set to redefine the premium sports bike market in India.”

The Kawasaki Ninja 650R was launched at the Bajaj Auto auditorium in Akurdi, Pune on Wednesday.
