Hero Honda Achiever Review

Launched in 2006, Hero Honda Achiever has achieved great name for itself and some fortune to the company.

The bike comes with a sturdy body and the macho personality still comes with fabulous looks, no wonder it kind of rocked the 150cc bike segment. But then the company has been making several changes in the Achiever and has been launching it again and again; however the changes will not make anyone deviate from comparing Achiever with HH Ambition, especially the fuel tank and the view of the bike from side.

Looks and looks
The latest Hero Honda Achiever looks bolder with a board front mask; the fuel tank comes a bit enlarged and sides and the rear panels too are size increased than the earlier Achiever. Body-colored grab rails, stepped-up seat and dual tone chain case and stylish muffler, black-colored alloy wheels, silver-finished heat shield etc., add to the dashing looks of the Achiever. The longer handle bars allow comfortable sitting posture and gives painless experience upon long drives. In these days when you see every other bike with a digital instrument console, Achiever still comes with an analogue meter console and that kind of looks lame to say the least.

The front cluster of the Achiever is big enough to have the halogen lamp as well as the side indicators that are put at the side of panels. The bigger fuel tank has been a take-and-modified-little-and-fixed-from the Hero Honda Ambition. The new body graphics and company sticker give the Achiever needed sexy looks and leave lasting impression. Ask for the sound Achiever releases, call me biased bit, the sound is hunk like and muscular, I like to hear it more often.

Enough of the show piece body, coming to the power plant the Hero Honda Achiever is seconded by air-cooled, one-cylinder, OHC, 4-stroke engine that gives a displacement of 149.1 cc good enough to belt out maximum power of 13.3 bhp @ 8000rpm and a peak torque of 12.8Nm @ 5000 rpm. The bike kind of incorporates decent pickup thanks to the powerful engine and reaches speed of 60 kmpl clocking just 6.25 seconds. The engine is integrated to a 5-speed gearbox and that helps bike achieve the speed.

Handling, comfort and mileage of the Achiever
The safety features include broader tyres, good suspension and good combo of disc and drum brake system. Big wheelbase and large tyres ensure greater stability and control on any kind of roads. Brakes and suspension of the Achiever is second to none in the segment. The front has 240mm non-asbestos type disc brakes and the rear has shoe-type non-asbestos expanding drum brakes. The telescopic hydraulic shock absorbers and swing arm type with adjustable hydraulic shock forks in the front and the rear give good suspension system to the bike which translates to very good handling.

Achiever has more to achieve in the department of fuel economy. Mileage has been a huge concern of the Achiever and although it ain’t the lone bike in the 150cc segment, but because of poor fuel efficiency the great positives of the bike are overshadowed. The bike gives about 47-53 kmpl in the bumper-bumper traffic and a little over 58 kmpl on the highways.

The HH Achiever comes in some mind-blowing color options including force silver metallic, palace maroon, midnight black, candy blazing red and magnetic blue although we see more of magnetic blue and the candy blazing red Achievers. Pegged under Rs. 60k this is a good deal for 150cc bike.

Why buy or deny the Hero Honda Achiever
Good engine, great sound, eye-catching fit and finish of the bike, comfortable seating position that gives painless driving experience are the reasons why anyone can buy the Hero Honda Achiever. Grumpy size and pathetic mileage are two reasons why anyone can rule the Achiever out of their options. This is a good bike per bike if you ask for more take your eyes off the Achiever.

    yaaar miealge depends on your ride, even CT 100 can gives you 40kmpl after rough use so i think achiever is the best bike but due to its first flop it goes out of fashion…
